EVALUATION OF ENDOGENOUS AUDITORY EVOKED POTENTIALS IN CHILDREN WITH SPECIFIC LANGUAGE IMPAIRMENT: A REVIEW

نویسندگان

چکیده

Introduction Children with specific language impairment (SLI) have poorer ability and difficulties understanding complex sentences even though they no clear sensory, motor, or neurological abnormalities. Nevertheless, may exhibit auditory processing deficits. Hence the present study was conducted to provide an overview of endogenous evoked potentials in this population, which help early identification subtle Material Methods Relevant articles were included from searches two electronic data sources, Google Scholar PubMed. Articles on children SLI included, but studies exogenous excluded. Results The results review showed contradictory findings terms mismatch negativity. Some report a statistically significant difference waveform morphology, latency, amplitude negativity between control group. This suggests that these might problems at higher centers. A few other find potentials, pointing intact abilities SLI. Conclusions helps us understand level areas. Endogenous be battery tests for identifying

Cognitive auditory evoked potentials in children with special language impairment.

Perception and discrimination of auditory and speech stimuli in children aged 7-9 years with either receptive (n=6) or expressive (n=5) type of special language impairment and 7 healthy age-matched controls was investigated using evoked potential technique. The measurements were performed with a 32-channel Neuroscan electroencephalographic system. Two types of stimuli were applied, pure tones (...

Atypical long-latency auditory event-related potentials in a subset of children with specific language impairment

It has been proposed that specific language impairment (SLI) is the consequence of low-level abnormalities in auditory perception. However, studies of long-latency auditory ERPs in children with SLI have generated inconsistent findings. A possible reason for this inconsistency is the heterogeneity of SLI. The intraclass correlation (ICC) has been proposed as a useful statistic for evaluating he...

Speech Specific Auditory Evoked Potentials

ERPs of 27 scalp electrodes were recorded from fourteen volunteers during the presentation of binaurally presented speech and non-speech stimuli. Speech stimuli consisted of nine different consonant-vowel syllables. Non-speech stimuli were generated using special envelope-modulated low pass noise. With this method, kinematic signals are time and amplitude normalized, allowing us to observe the ...

Picture Naming in Children With and Without Specific Language Impairment: An Error Analysis Study

Objectives: The lexical-level deficits are one of the hallmark limitations observed in early school-age children with specific language impairment. These problems are the predictors of reading problems and poor performance at school. Most studies in Persian-speaker children with specific language impairment have focused on syntax and morphology and the naming errors profile of these children ar...

Lexical Access in Persian Speaking Children With and Without Specific Language Impairment

Introduction: Word retrieval problems are among the limitations observed in children with specific language impairment during the initial schooling years. These restrictions are predictive of reading problems and poor performance at school. Additionally, studies on lexical access in Persian speaking children are scarce. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate and compare naming accuracy and ...
